Prague Bars and Clubs: The Stag Do Guide

A Prague bars stag do goes wrong in the same three places. You start hungry. You try to “do the city” in ten pubs. Someone follows a tout. Prague is not Magaluf. Old Town to Wenceslas is a walk. Two first bars and one club will beat a treasure hunt every time.

We send UK and Irish groups out from our Prague stag base every week. The night we keep using is dull on a spreadsheet and excellent at 2am: dinner, a cellar or the Dog Bar, a volume stop if you need it, then one door. You walk home. Or you book a Bolt.

The short answer

1. Dinner first. Lokál Dlouhá or U Fleků. Get food in people before the first pint.
2. Two first bars, not ten. Vzorkovna (Dog Bar) or U Sudu to start. Harley's if the group wants volume. Hemingway Bar if you are six and you want cocktails, not a shout.
3. One club. DUPLEX or EPIC if you want a table. Cross Club or Roxy if you want less tourist. Karlovy Lázně if the group wants a huge multi-floor night.
4. One kitty. Monzo or Splitwise, collected before you fly. Ten separate rounds will eat Saturday.
5. No street taxi, no tout. Bolt or Uber is usually €5 to €10. Metro or tram is about €1. Anyone who stops you in the street is not a host.

Dinner, then bars, then one club

That order is not a vibe. It is damage control.

Skip dinner and the first hour is chaos. The groom drinks on an empty stomach, someone is already lost, and you have not sat down once. Skip the first bars and you dump twelve lads on a club door with no warm-up and a queue. Stack three clubs and you spend the night in lines.

Prague still wins a beer-and-nights bill against Magaluf, Amsterdam and most of Krakow if you stay on this route. Budapest is the other city we run. The ruin-bar night is a different animal. Do not copy-paste that plan onto Old Town.

Feed the group before anyone shouts a round

Lokál Dlouhá is the dinner we use when you want Czech food and a pint, and you still want to be outside before the night starts. It is a pub kitchen that moves. You are not trapped in a three-hour tasting menu while the group chat argues about a club.

U Fleků is the brewery dinner. Their own dark lager, a room that feels Czech, a sit-down the groom will remember. Use it when the meal is the moment, not just fuel.

Book. A Saturday table for ten-plus does not appear because you walked in. If you want dinner already sitting inside a weekend, that lives on the stag packs and in the Prague activity catalogue.

Do not turn dinner into the night. Eat, pay, move.

First bars that actually work

You pick two. Maybe three if Friday is a soft night. You do not pick ten.

Vzorkovna, the Dog Bar, is the start we give most groups. Odd rooms, dogs, a mixed crowd, nothing that looks like a tourist menu on Wenceslas. People still talk about it at breakfast. It is a first hour, not a five-hour camp.

U Sudu is the cellar. Several rooms underground, Czech beer, easy to lose half the group in a corridor. Set a meeting point at the door before anyone goes down. Good when you want a classic Prague pub without a tout in the doorway.

Harley's is the volume bar. Rock, shooters, the place you use when the group is already loud and you need twenty minutes before a club, not another quiet pint. Do not start here if people have not eaten.

Hemingway Bar is the other end. Cocktails, smaller, not a fourteen-man first stop. Use it if the stag is six or eight and the brief is a proper drink, not a shout. Turn up with hen-do energy and you will bounce.

None of those four need a VIP wristband. They do need a grown-up holding the pot. Pay in Czech koruna (CZK). Our site prices are in euros. Revolut or N26 is fine. A bit of cash helps in the smaller pubs. Bank ATM only (KB or Raiffeisenbank), never Euronet, and always refuse the conversion the machine offers.

One club, not a tour of queues

After two bars, pick one door. The rest of the group can peel off and walk home. That is a night. Four venues after midnight is a tour of queues.

DUPLEX sits over Wenceslas. Rooftop, a bit smarter, the one we book when the group wants a table and a view, not another cellar. Our VIP entry at DUPLEX with table is €55 a head. That is the queue and the “we are twelve, can we come in” conversation, already done.

EPIC is the bigger club night. Sound, lights, a proper dancefloor. The EPIC table and 4 bottles package is €79 a head. Use it when Saturday is the headline and you do not want to negotiate bottles at the bar.

Karlovy Lázně is the huge multi-floor club by the river. Tourist, busy, lots of rooms. Fine if the group wants floors to get lost in. Not subtle. We do not sell a table there, so treat it as a walk-up night and keep the kitty tight.

Cross Club is Žižkov. Industrial, machines, more local. Žižkov is a night out, not your first bed. You go there on purpose. You do not stumble into it from Old Town without a plan.

Roxy is the electronic room that sits with the first-bar part of town. Better if the group wants DJs more than a rooftop. One of Roxy or Cross Club, not both, unless you have a third night.

A summer Saturday changes the door, not the route. The month itself is a when to go question. The night shape stays the same.

If you want the night booked for you

Plenty of best men can walk Vzorkovna to Harley's without us. The bit that goes wrong is the club, the strip, and the hour when nobody can agree.

Private Last Bad Night is €9 a head. A route, a host, the group stays in one piece. Use it when you do not want to be the Google Maps guy at 1am.

The private English beer bus is €59 a head. Moving first hour, everyone on the same vehicle, useful when the group is big and the walk would split.

Strip club table and drinks is €49 a head, table and drinks fixed. Prague is famous for the other version: a tout, a booth, a bill that arrives later. If that is on the brief, book it. If a lad in a waistcoat stops you on the street, the answer is no.

What blows a Prague night

• Street taxis. The classic Prague sting. Bolt or Uber. Metro or tram if you still have a brain. Never the car that pulls up outside a club.
• Touts. Anyone who stops you for “the best club” or a free table is not a host. The bill is the product.
• Ten separate rounds. One pot. Monzo before you fly, one person paying, everyone already in. The stag do Prague cost guide is the money version. This is the night version of the same rule.
• Hostess bars. Same family as the tout. You do not go in.
• Airport and Euronet ATMs on the way out. Bank machine, refuse the conversion, pay in CZK.
• Old Town, Žižkov and a Wenceslas club in one loop. Pick a centre of gravity.

Where the night sits

First bars live in Staré Město (Old Town). The big clubs sit in Nové Město (New Town, Wenceslas). Cross Club is Žižkov, which we mention for going out, not as the first place to sleep.

A lot of Old Town buildings refuse stag groups. Filter the address. The longer version is where to stay on a Prague stag do. Do not pick a cheap flat a taxi ride out and then “save” it on ten Bolts.

Centre is on foot. That is the point. UK groups still need a passport to get here. Irish citizens can travel on an ID card. Neither helps you if the night is already a mess.
