Stag Do Prague Cost: What You Should Really Budget

The first question in the group chat is never the hotel. It is the stag do Prague cost, said out loud, before anyone books a Friday flight from Stansted. So here is the number you can drop tonight: 190 to 260 € a head if you keep it tight, 350 to 450 € if you want it comfortable, and from 550 € if you go VIP. Two nights. Flights on top.

The short answer

1. Tight: 190 to 260 € per person, two nights, no flights.
2. Comfortable: 350 to 450 € per person. Hotel, one big activity, a proper Saturday night.
3. VIP: from 550 €. Car Football, a tank, a table at EPIC.
4. Flights extra. About 2 hours from London, Manchester, Dublin or Bristol. UK groups need a passport. Irish citizens can fly on an ID card.
5. From 10 people the group rates get kinder. The groom is covered. Keep 40 to 50 € a head for the unplanned.

Tight vs comfortable, line by line

Two nights, Friday to Sunday. Prices per person, in euros. Local cash is the Czech koruna (CZK). You still get quoted in euros.

Do not stack every comfortable line at the top. Hotel plus tank plus an EPIC table plus transfers is 394 € before anyone eats. That is the comfortable band. The gap is the activity and Saturday night, not the airport run.

1. Flights, the line we do not sell

Prague is about 2 hours from London, Manchester, Dublin or Bristol. We do not sell the tickets, so they never appear in our quote. Book them once the date and the headcount are locked.

Two habits that save real money. First: one outbound flight for the whole group. Three arrivals mean three transfers and a Friday that starts at midnight. Second: cabin bag only. For two nights nobody needs a hold bag.

UK groups need a passport. Irish citizens can fly on an ID card (EU). April to June is the busiest window, so lock flights 2 to 3 months out. November to March often works with 3 to 4 weeks. September and October are the ones we recommend. Summer is hot and touristy.

2. Beds: 70 € or 158 € a head

Three catalogue options, all walkable if you stay in the centre. Two nights, per person:

• City-centre hostel, 35 € a night. Private rooms for your group, not a mixed dorm. The cheapest way to stay central.
• Comfort accommodation, 35 € a night. Same price as the hostel, with a kitchen and space to sit before you go out. For 10 or more, this usually wins.
• Comfort hotel, 79 € a night. Two nights at 158 €. Fine if the group wants a reception at 4am.

That is 70 € a head on the first two, 158 € on the hotel. Staré Město (Old Town) is the postcard pick. Nové Město (New Town, Wenceslas) sits closer to the bars. Vinohrady is quieter, still on foot. 3. Activities: the line that moves the pot

This is the lever. One big activity a day is enough. Prices per person from the Prague activities catalogue:

• Tight: axe throwing 29 €, Prison Island 39 €, bubble football 45 €.
• Middle: private English beer bus 59 €, beer spa 75 €, multi-activity pack 85 €.
• Big ticket: car smash 99 €, tank driving 119 €, outdoor 7-gun shooting 125 €, Car Football 155 €.

A tight Saturday is axe throwing plus Prison Island: 68 €. A comfortable Saturday is the tank plus the beer spa: 194 €. That single swap is most of the jump from 190 to 350. If you would rather not pick, the stag do packs already bundle the weekend.

One rule that never fails: one big activity a day, no more. Stack the tank, Car Football and 7-gun shooting on the same Saturday and you have spent 399 € before dinner, and half the group is cooked by 4pm.

4. Food: paid there, except one dinner

We do not sell your lunches. We book the table. You pay on the night. That is the line that stretches or holds, depending on how the pot is run.

The one priced dinner in the catalogue is the medieval dinner at 79 €. It sits on the comfortable side. For the rest, the rooms we actually use are Lokál Dlouhá, U Fleků, U Malvaze, The RIBS and Kantýna. No invented menu prices. Sit down, eat, then move. Breakfast at the apartment is the easiest save of the weekend. Revolut or N26 is fine. Keep a little cash for the small pubs.

5. Night: 9 €, 39 € or a table

Three real levels, all catalogue:

• 9 €: private Last Bad Night. A guided first night so nobody has to negotiate the door.
• 39 €: boat party with EPIC entry. River, then the club, one ticket.
• 55 € or 79 €: DUPLEX VIP table at 55 €, or the EPIC table + 4 bottles at 79 €. That is the comfortable Saturday.

6. Transfers: 19 € each way

The airport transfer on arrival is 19 € per person. The return is another 19 €. That is 38 € and the group does not scatter at Václav Havel at 11pm.

If you want the weekend to start on the tarmac, the Hummer limo transfer is 33 € one way. That is a comfortable extra, not a tight one.

Inside the city, the centre is on foot. Bolt or Uber is 5 to 10 €. Metro or tram is about 1 €. Never take a street taxi in Prague. That is the classic sting, and it is still running. Same at the airport: if someone walks up with a laminated card, that is not your driver.

How not to blow the pot

This part never shows up in a price table. It decides whether you come home even or chase people on Monzo in October.

1. Monzo first, then you book. Ask for the full amount. Wait until it is in. Then confirm the beds and the activities. If you book first and collect after, two lads will take three weeks and you are the bank.
2. One kitty on the ground. One card pays the rounds and the tables. You split at the end. Splitwise is fine for the running total. Twelve people tapping at the bar is half an hour gone in every pub.
3. The groom is covered. He pays nothing. His share is split across the rest of the group. Say it in the first message. The weekend is a surprise for him, so anything we send goes to you, the best man, not to the groom.
4. Ring-fence 40 to 50 € a head. There is always one extra round or a dinner that runs long. Better to refund than to ask again.
5. No street taxis. No Euronet. Bank ATMs only (KB, Raiffeisenbank). Always refuse the rate the machine offers, and pay in CZK. Airport exchange is a waste. Revolut or N26 covers the rest.

Prague vs Magaluf and Amsterdam

If the group is still waving Magaluf, Amsterdam, Krakow or Budapest around, look at the bill.

Magaluf wins on flight time from some UK airports and loses on the night. A club entry plus a couple of drinks in high season eats what Prague charges for a guided night plus a boat party.

Amsterdam looks close on a map and then wrecks the pot. Beds for 10 or 12 on a weekend are the problem. Nights are the second. Prague still wins on beer and on the night out.
