Budapest Shooting Range for a Stag Do: Prices, Guns and How It Runs

The Budapest shooting range is usually the first activity ticked for a stag, and the last one the group actually knows how to choose. Three guns or seven, in the centre or 45 minutes out, with or without an AK-47: the price runs from €49 to €89, and a passport decides whether you get in. Here are the packs we book, and what makes a session fail.

The 3-gun pack goes past too fast. The outdoor range is worth it only if you pair it with tank driving on the same half-day. Otherwise you spend 45 minutes on the road for the same hit you can have in town.

In the centre, that is the default

The indoor packs run in central Budapest. You show up at reception 15 minutes before the time on the programme. The booking is in the participant's name, plus LAST BAD TRIP. The session is private: no strangers on the line while your group shoots. A local instructor runs it from the briefing to the last magazine. Nobody needs to have shot before.

The 3 Legendary Guns pack, from €49, is the cheapest. 10 shots on a Ruger Mark IV, 10 on a Glock 17 Gen4, 5 on a Mossberg MMR. Twenty-five rounds, and no Kalashnikov. If the groom said he wants the AK, this pack disappoints him.

The 3 Guns (AK-47) pack moves to €59. Same volume, 25 shots, but the last five are on the AK-47. That is the minimum when the rifle is the reason you booked. Between us, it flies past. The magazine is empty before the group has found a stance.

The 4-gun pack, from €65, adds 10 shots on the Mossberg MMR. You are already €4 from the Grand Slam. For those €4, the 5-gun pack adds the Ruger Super Redhawk, 5 shots, and it is the catalogue bestseller. That is the one we push when the group likes a bit of adrenaline and does not want to walk out feeling short-changed.

7-gun shooting, from €89, runs Colt 1911 (8), Ruger (10), Glock (10), AK-47 (5), Mossberg (10), Heckler and Koch MP5 (10) and Smith and Wesson 686 (6). Fifty-nine shots. It makes sense if two or three of the group came for this, and the rest of the stag budget can take €20 more than the 5-gun pack. Otherwise the Grand Slam is enough.

Outdoor only if something else is at the end of the drive

The three outdoor packs repeat the same guns as their indoor twins: 3 guns at €59, 5 guns at €75, 7 guns at €89. Outdoor 7 is the same price as indoor 7. Outdoor 5 costs €6 more than the Grand Slam. The transfer is not in the displayed price. You pay it in time: about 45 minutes from the centre.

The range sits in the same area as tank driving (from €78). That is why the combo exists. Shooting plus tank on one half-day, one return trip. If the programme has no tank, and no quad, stay indoors. Forty-five minutes of road for 25 rounds, the group feels it on the way back.

Extra options outdoors, on the 5-gun pack, need to be flagged in advance. Indoors, you can buy them on site. Drinks and snacks are not in the city-centre packs.

The ID, and the rest that gets you refused

Every person who shoots brings a national ID card or a passport. No document, no entry. No exception, no refund. Groups have already been turned away for this, with the activity paid. It matters more than Glock versus Ruger.

Same rule for the state of the shooter. Alcohol, drugs, or anyone the instructor judges unfit: no participation, no refund. The rule is the same indoors and outdoors. So the boat party goes after the range, or the next evening, not the morning after if the night overran. A noon session after Morrison's 2 is the version that ends on the pavement outside the range.

Arrive 15 minutes early. The session itself is set for one hour. The instructor goes back over how each gun is handled before the strings. With 12 or 15 of you, leave slack before the next activity. Everyone shoots in turn.

Papers are checked at reception, not on the bus. One document per shooter. The lad who left his at the flat does not get in, even if the rest of the group is already on the line.

Walk-in ranges in town will sell you a similar AK pack and share the lane with whoever booked the next slot. This hour is private. With 12 of you, that is the difference you actually feel. Put it on the quote as a daytime slot, noon indoors or 1pm outdoors, and do not jam it against a same-afternoon flight.

Where it sits in the three days

Shooting is a daytime activity. The catalogue slot sits around noon indoors and 1pm outdoors. On a Budapest weekend, Friday afternoon or Saturday morning both work. Saturday night stays free for the ruin bars or the boat party.

If you sleep in the centre, the indoor range skips a transfer. Where you stay matters more for the outdoor range: leaving District VII at 1pm for a range 45 minutes away eats the half-day. In winter the indoor range does not depend on the weather, which fits when to go to Budapest.

You want the AK without emptying the kitty: the 3-gun pack at €59, knowing it is short. The sensible default: the Grand Slam at €69. The 7-gun pack at €89 if shooting is the activity of the trip, not a side note. Outdoor only when it is stuck to tank driving. The €49 pack only if nobody cares about the Kalashnikov.
