When to Go to Prague for a Stag Do

You are the best man. The wedding is locked, the group chat is already splitting Magaluf, Amsterdam and Krakow, and someone has just pasted when to go to Prague stag do into the thread. Fair. Prague works twelve months a year. A stag weekend does not treat every month the same.

We run weekends in Prague through the calendar. The same two mistakes keep coming back: groups aiming at a busy April Saturday with three weeks' notice, and groups booking August because it will be warmer, then spending midday in a tourist crush. Here is how to pick the dates, and when to lock them.

The short answer

• Best overall: September and October. Evenings still work, fewer crowds than August, and beds usually cost less than they did in May.
• Most booked: April to June. Great for outdoor activities. You need two to three months or you get leftovers.
• Cheapest: November to March. More slack, an indoor programme, and a tight budget of 190-260 € a head (flights out) becomes realistic.
• Classic format: Friday to Sunday, two nights. Flights are about two hours from London, Manchester, Dublin or Bristol.

Spring (April to June): most booked, book early

Weather in one line: mild days, jacket at night. Terraces open, Old Town looks like the postcard, and you can stack a daytime outdoor slot with a proper Saturday night.

This is the window UK groups want, and April to June go first. Easter and the May bank holidays sit in this stretch. They are the worst of both worlds: British prices on the flights, European demand on the city. If your date is stuck on one of those weekends, book the flights first and build the rest around them.

Outdoor is the point of spring. Car Football at 155 € a head is the one that disappears first. Tank driving is 119 €. Outdoor 7-gun shooting is 125 €, and the lighter 3-gun outdoor sits at 85 €. Car smash is 99 € if you want something louder than a range.

Indoor still works if the forecast turns. You are not stuck. Price level: this is when a comfortable weekend (350-450 € a head, flights out) is the honest number, and VIP from 550 € if you want tables and a hotel. Summer (July and August): hot, touristy, still doable

Weather in one line: hot, sometimes heavy. Charles Bridge at midday in August is a queue with a view.

Summer is festive. Rooftops, terraces, nights that leak onto the street. It is also when the city fills with people who are not on a stag. Push outdoor slots early or late. Do not put Car Football at 2pm in a heatwave and then expect the same lads to last until a VIP table.

This is the season for the river. The open-bar drinks cruise is 59 € a head. The Boat Party with EPIC entry is 39 € if you want the water and the club in one ticket. A private English beer bus at 59 € does the mobile pint while you move between spots. Bubble football is 45 € if you want something silly that still belongs outside.

Price level: flights and beds sit high, especially around the August bank holiday. Activities in our Prague activities catalogue stay the same. What moves is the rest of the bill. Compared with Magaluf or Amsterdam, Prague still wins on beer and nights. The heat is the tax, plus the tourist crush in the centre. Sleep in Old Town or New Town / Wenceslas if you want to walk it. Bolt or Uber is 5-10 € if you stray. Never take a street taxi.

September and October: the one we recommend

Weather in one line: still good for being outside in September, cooler nights in October. Bring a jacket, not a winter coat.

This is our pick for most groups. You keep evenings that work, you drop the August crush, and activity slots are easier to lock. Beds usually cost less than they did in May. If the groom's date is flexible and the chat is still arguing, push it to late September.

Outdoor still holds: tank, shooting, bubble football, even a cruise if the week is dry. Indoor is a useful backup, not the whole plan. Price level sits between spring peak and winter cheap. Comfortable (350-450 € a head, flights out) is still the honest band for a group that wants a Saturday table. A tight 190-260 € weekend is possible if you keep the programme lean, not if you stack Car Football and two VIP nights.

Winter (November to March): cheapest, indoor, more slack

Weather in one line: cold outside. Charles Bridge at 3am in January is not a photo, it is a dare. Clubs and the beer spa heat you back up.

This is the quietest bill of the year. Flights from the UK and Ireland often drop if you book a couple of months out. Beds have space. A tight weekend of 190-260 € a head (flights out) becomes realistic if you keep the programme honest. Comfortable is 350-450 €. You do not need VIP from 550 € to have a good Saturday.

The programme flips indoor. Indoor shooting (4 guns) is 95 €. Electric karting is 80 €. Prison Island is 39 €. Axe throwing is 29 €. The multi-activity pack is 85 € if you want several hits without a field in the frost. A medieval dinner at 79 € solves the Saturday meal when nobody wants a terrace. Sunday is for the beer spa at 75 €.

Tell the group to bring real shoes. The cobbles ice over. Metro and tram are about 1 € if walking stops being funny. Late December is the exception inside winter: Christmas and New Year fill the centre and the slack disappears for those two weeks. Skip them if you can. January and February are the ones we like.

When to book (and what disappears first)

• April to June: two to three months out. Dates, flights, beds, then Car Football and the Saturday table.
• July and August: still book early on beds. The city is full of tourists even if the stag rush peaked in spring.
• September and October: you have a bit more room than May, not a free pass.
• November to March: three to four weeks often enough. You get less choice, not a worse city.

Whatever the month, three things go first.

1. Group flats that accept stag groups. Old Town looks perfect and a lot of buildings just say no. Comfort accommodation is 35 € a night. The city-centre hostel is also 35 €. A comfort hotel is 79 € a night if you want less risk.
2. Car Football at 155 €. One slot, one morning, and it books out in spring.
3. Saturday VIP tables. An EPIC table with 4 bottles is 79 € a head. DUPLEX VIP with a table is 55 €. Walk-up on a May Saturday is how you spend the night in a queue.

Collect the pot before you book. Monzo or Splitwise, not "we will sort it on the Friday pint". The groom's share is paid by the group and said out loud at the start. Put 40-50 € a head aside for the bits nobody planned. UK lads need a passport. Irish citizens can travel on an ID card. Prices on our site are in euros. The street runs on Czech koruna (CZK). Revolut or N26 is fine. A bit of cash for the small pubs. No airport exchange, no Euronet. Bank ATM (KB, Raiffeisenbank), refuse the machine rate, pay in CZK.

Season by season, in one table
